The 14th project Phra Payom had established by 1997 aimed to address specific social problems. By 1997 the great need for the services, Phra Payom provided was straining the resources of Wat Suan Kaew and there was not enough space for the huge number of suffering people at the temple.
In 1997, Phra Payom used the income from his Dhamma speeches,sale of his cassettes and books and from Suan Kaews various projects to purchase additional land for expansion.
Much of this land was used for an ambitious new project:The agriculture and Environment project. This expansive agricultural space provided numerous new work and training opportunities for the people at Suan Kaew.
But this was not the limit of the social benefits Phra Payom envisioned for the project. He intend for the project to grow the traditional medical plants:-
to help treat those cannot afford medical treatment
to conserve scarce species of plants
to provide a peaceful natural environment for visitor to escape the noise and pollution of the city
to serve as a model of environmentally-friendly agriculture and
to eventually become a public education and research center in the ; field of botany.
